Interpreting Services
An interpreter is one who practices the facilitating of oral and or sign-language communication. This takes place either consecutively or simultaneously.
Our interpreters do more than simply translate, they strive to understand and communicate the tone and feeling of the spoken word. This requires a high sense of attention to detail and a deep understanding of the nuance of the language, cultural and dialect they are translating.
We staff over 1,000 translators/interpreters thus ITLS can often find with little effort professional interpreters able to provide the service required in a timely and professional manner.
Simultaneous vs. Consecutive interpreting
We can provide both simultaneous and consecutive interpretation. In simultaneous interpreting the interpreter delivers the translation in the requested language as it is being delivered directly from the source language. Simultaneous interpreting is the common mode used by sign language interpreters.
Consecutive interpretation is when an interpreter speaks after the source-language person has finished speaking. Normally, but not always, what is being translated is divided into workable groups and segments. The interpreter can thus listen and takes notes as the source speaker delivers their message. When the source-speaker pauses the interpreter delivers the provided portion of the message (or the entire message) in the target language as required.
Quality of Work
Speaking and translating a language is not our only consideration when providing you an Interpreter. Our interpreters must also prove to us they have an understanding of your subject matter and business. Equally important is and understanding of the industry terminology and lingo/slang used.
Privacy and Digression
Our Interpreters are very sensitive to your privacy and confidential information. ITLS ensures that our interpreters are CRB checked and if required can sign non-disclosure agreements.
